Voig.com: a gamers community with a twist!

I stumbled upon this site by accident while writing Video Games That Could Be Anime’s. The last trailer posted in that article explains the MMOvie concept, and at the end credits you’ll see voig.com. Well, naturally I checked out the site and have been surfing its contents ever since.

This is from their about section:

Voig.com is a social networking site dedicated to gamers, for gamers, by gamers. Voig enables individual players and teams to customize their own websites, host content, and manage contacts. Through the Voig network players can meet new friends, recruit allies, or challenge opponents. In addition, Voig provides a community showcase for top-rated videos, screenshots, apps, teams, and players. The goal is simple… provide a home for gamers, to be gamers.

Now, I know what you’re thinking and it is nothing like Pwned. Don’t get me wrong, I loooove the pwned community, but voig is different. I feel that a gamer could satisfy their pallet with both sites!! At Voig, you get to battle other teams, befriend people, and even have a section just for your rivals.

Another interesting feature is the LinX rank:

LinX are an exciting way for your contributions to the Voig community to be tracked and eventually benefit you in return. Everytime you do an action that adds content to your site or increases your social network size you gain points. For example, the first time you update your player profile you will be awarded 300 LinX points.

As you gain points you will progress in rank from rank 1 to rank 12. The large number on the front of your player card indicates which rank you are currently on. You can see your LinX points total if you go into your player admin area and click on the “LinX” link under Personal Info & Settings. You can also change the theme of your ranking to suit your personal tastes in this area. Everything from mythological ranks to science fiction based rank names are available.

LinX points will ultimately be redeemable for gear and special opportunities on the site. Contests in the future may involve LinX points, so get a jump on the competiton by building up your rank now.

Of course, my favorite feature of this special community is the MMOvies! They’re the reason I tuned into the site in the first place! They’re genius and entertaining!

Here is the 1st installment of MMOvie!

It is a bit confusing Mandy… to be honest, I don’t go on as much as I should. I emailed the creators some clarifying questions for this article and they never got back to me.

I think the best thing about that site are the MMOvies… they’re brilliant. :D
