A community of men & women who embody the next generation of pop culture
It’s a fact that gamers often times do some unusual things to create their own perfect world of electronics and hardware. After seeing some of the things they do, it’s no wonder I drool all over myself and my keyboard with the incredible feats of these hardcore fans. Here are some of the most incredible gaming system case mods I have found on the net.
Xbox 360 - Half Life 2 Mod
“PinPoint” shows us his dedication to one of my all time favorites. Gordon Freeman himself would be in awe of this orange and gray masterpiece. With a couple layers of polystyrene plastic, Plexiglas and a dremel this is an impressive piece of work for a first time modder. The logo on the drive is also a nice touch.

Xbox 360 – Gears of War Mod
This is one case mod that has visited a few other versions to get to where it is today. “Grim_d” shows us the guts inside his Gears 360 mod. Complete with a glowing red led on the inside of the case. The logo itself is a highly detailed work of art.

PC – Spiderman 3 Mod
Originally done for a “Cooler Master Contest”, Matt Fielder has completely modded this computer inside and out. My spider sense was tingling when I first saw photos of this mod. I decided to take a further look and not only has he done the outer case, but the inside hardware, mouse and keyboard went with it. Making this mod one of the most detailed one of a kind pieces I have ever seen.

PC – Blackmesa HL² Mod
Speaking of Gordon Freeman, this Half Life 2 mod is inspired from what remains of Blackmesa. “Piloux” got the idea to build a Half-Life lan PC, but didn’t quite know how to put it to action until the release of Half-Life 2. The forum log was a bit messy so Bit-Tech created a full log, complete with photos of this beautiful mod in progress.

Xbox 360 – Horror Inspired
I’m a HUGE horror girl… when I am not destroying the flood or building turrets on Team Fortress, I am watching a good old b-movie with the lights off. These cases by “Midianad” take a special kind of person to see how awesome they are. They also require a special kind of love. The following are a slasher/blood splatter and Hellraiser inspired case mods.

Morpheon Mods
So we come to the final round of beautiful gamer art known as “case mods”. All are very unique and original, but none are as amazing as the work that comes from a company known as Morpheon Mods. Ramon Stokes of Morpheon Mods, seems to mod for a good cause on top of his business efforts. After completing some of his brilliant works of art, he will occasionally list the piece on e-bay. A percentage of the winning bid will go to a charity known as Child’s Play, an organization that works with gamers to get consoles and games in the hands of children in hospitals to help better their lives. He seems to have modded the Wii, DS and PSP so far. I leave you with a showcase of some of his work. You can visit Morpheon Mods to see a full gallery of past work or commission him for something special.

On a semi-related note, I was just checking out some DS “mods” where you use the clear case DS protector, but draw images on the case or put a piece of paper image under it… here is an example http://www.dsfanboy.com/media/2008/03/josh-st-pcldslart-lg.jpg
I’d be interested to know if the xbox 360 modders did any internal adjustments to heat sinks to avoid the dreaded red rings. Or if they maybe increased their red ring danger by adding paint or plastics to their cases…I’ve thought about doing something like this bug always worry that I’m just going to inadvertantly bring on the red rings.
I am digging that horror inspired 360.
Ralph Wiggum…
