Her online name is Omi Gibson. She is a mystery to those on US soil. All we know of her is this: She’s Japanese, she’s beautiful, and she’s got one hell of a cosplay closet. From Metal Gear Solid to Ghost in the Shell, this awesome chick has an arsenal of jaw-dropping costumes at her fingertips. You cannot miss this.
This cosplayer has been one of my favorites for years and it shouldn’t come as a surprise why.
“The Major” from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Selene from Underworld
Meryl from Metal Gear Solid
Saya from Blood+
What I like best about Omi is her choice of characters. She tends to go for the sexy, strong type and doesn’t mind showing a little skin, so long as she has a weapon in hand!
Speedgrapher (guns ablazing!)
Rowdy Reiko
She’s even hot when she’s a gender bender!
And I haven’t even shown you HALF of what she’s accomplished!
After years of searching for information on her - and plenty of frustration over not being able to read Japanese- all I can come up with is that she’s an outstanding testament to the art of cosplay. Her photos are 99% on a themed location that corresponds to whatever she’s wearing. Her makeup is always flawless, her wigs are exact, her choice in fabrics is pristine, the list goes on and on.
She is often pictured with an equally impressive group of Metal Gear Solid cosplayers as well as a number of other series. To show you how “equally impressive” her other group members are, I leave you with this.
And no, you’re not seeing things, that is THE CROCODILE CAP!

I LOVE her cosplay too! I have a full gallery of her work for inspirations! It sucks when we can’t contact some people because of the language!
Let’s hire an official GEN translator! Ok, who speaks Japanese!?! lol
HOLY CRAP!!!!
and make my costuems as close as to the anime chrater as possible
man those are the folks who inspire me to make more costumes
She is now one of my faves!
those are awesome!
I had seen her before but like you know really nothing about her. She has an amazing array of outfits and each one looks so detailed and finely crafted, I often wondered if she was just a model who got them made for her. But no, I do believe now that she does make her own. She is simply amazing.
If someone had told me years ago a bunch of geeks dressing up in costumes would become a good thing i would have laughed at them. Now i just shut up and stare.
omg, insane indeed!
Her Makoto Kusanagi is definitely my favorite. She’s got an amazing array of costumes. I hope she keeps on doin’ what she does for a long time.
It saddens me though that there are quite a few Japanese cosplayers who go to the Cosplay Shops (I beleive there is a well-noted one in Akibahara) and buy their costumes and don’t note doing so. I remember looking at one a few years back thinking “Wow, her costumes are great”…and then finding out she had just simply bought them. I really wish I could remember her name…they are suuupppperrr expensive though!!
-Moe
I know what you mean Moe. I’m a fan of putting together, or at least piecing together your own costumes. I’ve done all aspects of cosplay, commissioning a costume, completely sewing from scratch, piecing together from real life, and I believe the most rewarding by far was my Postman costume in which I did absolutely everything by hand. The bunnies took forever, but it was worth every bloody fingertip.
I love making costumes myself, but there are times where I’ll jsut break down and buy one, I actually looked on ebay to see if they have some bleach rukia costumes and they do! for about 45 bucks and you get it custome made for you in your size! the only thing that is super expensive is the shipping of course.
that making and finishing a costume is the most gratifying thing ever!
I have been researching on how to make the skirt for the school uniform she wears I think I can make the soul reaper outfit just fine.
I do agree with you Naru
my judy nails costume I had to buy the peices and modify them hehe thank god that I can still shop in the lil girls section at target lol since that is where I got most of my peices at.
I also did a search to see if there was more information on Omi and I couldn’t find anything! just pictures of her costumes. I also looked at her Cosplay.com profile and she state she won’t answer questions on her costumes or where she got them or if she eithere sells, makes them and or if anyone else commision them. This is just my opinion on it, dont’ get me wrong her costumes are Amazing! I will say this I think she is a some kind of actress or model that is really good at disgusing her self from her famous self. The costumes she has are all made for her from most likely a a costume maker for like musicals and stuff.
I looked at her photos and I noticed most of them look like professional modeling shoots (besides from the photos taken at the cons) and that she is also in stage performances like musicals and such. That is just my take, sinces there really isn’t any real information on her or who she really is just the only thing we know is that she has kick ass costumes!
I maybe wrong but hey you never know
That’s seriously impressive stuff. One thing I’ve noticed about G4TV’s coverage of Japan is how normal it is over there to see people in costumes. Over here, you’re either dubbed a “nerd at a comic show” or you “sexual fetishes from a deeply troubled childhood.” Whatever happened to just having fun playing dress up? My mom always made our Halloween costumes and when I began college she had this urge to just start making adult size costumes so we looked for reasons to wear. Now I can make my own! It’s just fun! (I do find myself naturally gawking at girls like the staff here wishing I looked that good though, but that tends to be how we girls are.)
