A community of men & women who embody the next generation of pop culture
Apparently, on CNN there is a man named Glen Black… who not only is full of himself, but also has a personal vendetta against GTA. Why you ask? I don’t know, he must have had a rough childhood, mommy didn’t hug him, or he just doesn’t have anything better to do with his time. This man has gone out of his way to call all gaming bloggers, losers… yes folks, he said losers.
It’s people like this man who make it harder for adult gamers to actually play games. Not all gamers are children, or don’t you understand that Glen Black.
I guess it’s a good thing that Walmart is family friendly enough to carry shotguns, ammunition, easily accessible drugs, sex magazines, tabloids, and rated R movies, my God GTA just shouldn’t be on them shelves!!If you want to listen to more of this crapola, just search “Glen Black GTA” on YouTube. There is a whole plethora of this garbage.PS: GTA IV does not contain nudity, get your facts straight before you rant.

God what a tool….
Although I did hear that Glen Black can give you crabs, I don’t know if thats true…. *ahem*
… also, why are they saying that parents can’t operate the controls for the game? Can’t they learn, or are they that useless? God, they act like they have no say in what their OWN children play… worthless!
People like this man are simply pathetic.
It’s funny he claims that bloggers are losers and that he “doesn’t care about video games”, yet he’s making such a big deal about them. If you listen good and hard, half this segment doesn’t make sense or flow in anyway. It’s just a bunch of random conversation about him trying to get the last word. He’s not even acknowledging her or listening to her. Sounds to me like Glen Black has a huge case of the “Me’s”.
It could be that he has a huge case of CRABS and has to hurry to the restroom… maybe thats why he doesn’t make sense…. hahahaha….. I’m mean!
I think that these guys do this as a way to drive traffic to them and their media. I mean how many gamers had even heard of this guy before now. They see how vocal gamers can be and they know that stirring the pot will bring in lots of comments so they can turn around and go “look at these crazy gamers, they’re threatening me and all I want is to protect kids!”
etc. etc. etc.
I personally do not criticize things that I know nothing about
This CNN employee should do the same
Thank You! I agree with you Anthony.
First time poster to GEN (I know Aktrez and company you can blame me for not getting on the bandwagon).
I saw a similar Youtube video a few weeks ago with Black having our favorite Floridian lawyer/ambulance chaser as a guest correspondent. But through all that drabble I heard, there was one comment i agreed with Black and with that author: its true that the ever-changing tastes of the media will produce some sort of controversy, and that video games happen to get so much attention because this is a media that the participant can actively participate and influence.
The video game industry doesn’t try to delude or deceive its consumers about the nature of the game - there’s an ESRB rating for a reason, they make it VERY clear. So, I espouse the same position that quite a few other video game supporters take: it is the parent/family’s responsibility to dictate and be educated of violent/mature rated material, and ultimately, its their decision whether or not to let their kids partake in such form of entertainment.
Rabble-rousers and ignorant people (like some politicians or lawyers, hint hint) should not try to target the entertainment industry (such as video games, TV, music, movies, etc.) because this IS an adult society that we live in and because many of us are mature and intelligent enough to distinguish fiction from reality, we shouldn’t be targeted or deprived of being able to enjoy such form of entertainment. Nor should they place a biased opinion on people who obviously have a fervent enough passion or interest to express their views on this matter by calling them “losers”.
Just my two cents.
Well, dt0423, for your very first post, you make some really good points. The more mature society gets, the more mature the taste of fans gets, that is what the entertainmet companies (all sorts) will target. I completely agree with that statement as well.
It’s so easy to condemn something you don’t know anything about.
For the record I just beat the game and I never did the aforementioned scenario where I picked up a hooker, and then beat her to death. Sure it’s possible, but not necessary. As a matter of fact the game reminds me more of a Scorsese crime drama then a GTA installment…
Beck is an idiot, and is much like the rest of the morons who populate the mainstream news channels who play to the lowest common denominator. He can’t even handle the interview when it goes off track and the woman basically disagrees with him.
Glen Beck, just like Hannity, Limbaugh, and Mann Coulter should be rounded up and shot. They cross the bounds of any protection through “freedom of speech”, because the misinformation and lies they spread cause far more damage than any game (which is 0 damage).
I’d do it myself, but I’m not a violent person.
Wait- how’s that possible? I play violent video games! I should be the first person around that’s likely to do such a thing!
If I ever become a millionaire in my life (not gonna happen), I’m going to go OUT of my way to find out the “hobbies” of some of these people- gardening, sailing, whatnot and create all sorts of legal woes on how those activities are JUST as dangerous as gaming. After all, I know for a fact that people who sail are more prone to be angry afterwards.
(Actually, I don’t, but I know as much about sailing as these morons know about gaming.)
Anyone notice the common denominator? They’re Warpublicans.
Um, there are liberals on this bandwagon as well- it was started by Al Gore’s Wife. Also, the Brits and Germans are both worse about it then the US is, this isn’t a party-line issue.
The best way to deal with trolls like these is complaints to their bosses, and ignoring their articles- we all know how to deal with trolls on here right?
He has a point. This is not a party issue. This is something that the ignorant have made it a point to hammer home no people trying to warn the stupid of the evils of entertainment because people are too stupid and lazy to educate their kids themselves anymore. I know way more liberals on this issue against gaming than I do conservatives.
“we all know how to deal with trolls on here right?”
… ya, delete them from existence.
Well you’ve had different experiences than me on this matter.
I’ve never met a liberal who’s been anti-gaming in the sense that the “right” has been in wanting to outright ban them.
The “right” want to send gaming into oblivion. Those who have been involved in this fight that are liberal have simply wanted better parental tools in place and systems in the stores for the protection of children.
Other than the rare exception (like Hillary jumping on the bandwagon with Jack Thompson) I’ve never heard a Democrat say a bad thing about gaming.
I hear it every other day I hear a blurb from the “right” wing talk radio.
But, that’s just what I’ve personally experienced.
You’ve experienced only half the issue then. Not saying you’re totally wrong, cause there are right-wing wackjobs, but there are just as many left-wing wackjobs as well. I think the big issue is the people used to gaming aren’t a majority of the votes yet- give it 10 years and this issue will go away- just try to limit the damage in the meantime.
Nudity? Uh oh, Some ultra religious ignorant conservative with a BIG mouth didn’t do his homework, tsk tsk.
“The birth of our Lord!” and the talking Snake?
I was reading the Bible and there’s more violence in that book than GTAIV. A lot of people get stoned to death. I never wanted to stone anyone.
“Bloggers are losers!” Look at my smug face! I’m above everyone! I know what’s right and wrong. My values are all that matter. You’re all beneath me, GOD IS GREAT! ROAAAAR!!!
Not to say anything, but I believe his name is Glen Beck
The world is changing fast. Gaming is bigger than movies. Everything is downloaded and those that don’t play video games or go online. Are being left behind. You’re becoming obsolete, outdated. This isn’t gonna be your world anymore. It’s gonna be ours!
When is this guy on CNN at 6am on Sundays?
