Of course it’s common to see celebrities promoting and advertising a product, but it’s rare that you see them promote video games… and even more rare that it’s females! I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my favorite celebs, Liv Tyler, testing her brain age on Brain Age 2 while I was watching TV. American Idol winner country sweetheart Carrie Underwood does another ad lounging on her tour bus and playing with her Nintendog. And Ugly Betty star America Ferrara joins in on the fun as well.

Do the girls actually play? We’re all familiar with the booth babe syndrome - in which models who don’t play video games are hired to promote them - and in the next two videos, Carrie and America Ferrera talk about their DS experience. It may still be for the purpose of the ads, but hey, we can still hope it’s true, right?
I have to say kudos to Nintendo. All three celebs are in good standing and are great choices for the family friendly entertainment company. I’m interested to see if there are any other female stars on board!

I really like the commercials…I think America seems the most real about the whole thing though!

It beats looking at the “Wii Would Like To Play” dudes.

It seems that Nintendo marketing has a good head on their shoulders. It also makes me wonder if allot of people will even know who some if not all of these women are?

Well, I think these are actually pretty good ads. If for nothing more than to get more exposure for gaming.

VK, are you serious? Who wouldn’t know these women?

You would be very surprised how many people don’t. Especially the younger generations.

VK - I know what you mean…. I think the only one people WON’T recognize is Carrie Underwood. Liv usually stays under the radar and America is only recently famous for her role in Ugly Betty.
But I really, really like it. Nintendo could have copped out and hired Paris or Lindsay to promote and get lots of attention (good or bad, who knows, they say bad publicity is publicity, right?) but they chose respectable celebs.

and respectable is a word that you don’t see very much when it comes to Hollywood these days.
