Watchmen Movie The Comedian Header

On March 6 of next year, DC’s Watchmen—directed by the guy who did Dawn of the Dead and 300—will hit theaters. Those of you who will be seeing The Dark Knight (or who have already seen it—me included, ha!) can expect to see the new teaser on the big screen. But if you don’t want to wait, or you just want to watch it again, you can check it and some info out after the jump.

(Watch it bigger and in higher quality here.)

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” - which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity…but who is watching the watchmen?

Watchmen was originally a twelve-part comic written by Alan Moore with art by Dave Gibbons. The movie version stars Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

By the way, right now you can download a “motion comic” of the first chapter of Watchmen for free on iTunes. Subsequent chapters will be released every few weeks—but for the price of a few bucks, I believe. Go to it! :D

Opinion: Do you guys think the excitement for this flick will be as high as it was for TDK?

Update: By the way, definitely check this out, guys. Ropes of Silicon has a teaser-to-panel comparison, like this one below. I spotted at least one other: when Ozymandias is stopping the guy who’s trying to assassinate him. Remember that from the comic? ;)
