A community of men & women who embody the next generation of pop culture
Nickelodeon recently aired a new, two-minute long sneak peak of Iron Man, set for release on May 2nd of this year. Check it out.
Tony Stark tests the thrust capacity on his suit in this clip. Parts of it should be familiar to those who have seen the movie trailer.
It looks like Robert Downey Jr. is going to deliver as Iron Man. The movie seems promising, and Downey’s comedic talent lightens the mood enough for non-comic book fans to want to watch it. The heavy metal/rock music in the trailer and commercials (Audioslave’s “Save Yourself” and Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man”) appeals to the general masses, as well. That’s not all director Jon Favreau’s manipulated in order to give the film a more modern and thus relatable feel, though. Instead of Tony Stark’s origin residing in the Vietnam war, the movie version puts Stark in Afghanistan, making the situation much more real and familiar to us.
Plus, Favreau gets points with me for choosing to shoot in California instead of an east coast setting, unlike so many other comic book movies—or just movies in general—whose surroundings remind us of New York (which makes me wonder why anyone lives there at all with all the death and destruction that apparently so commonly occurs there).
Anyway, what do you think of Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Iron Man? Are you looking forward to the movie?

That is so cool! I’m so pumped for this movie!!!
This just solidifies how AMAZING this movie is going to be … hopefully. Let’s just all bow our heads and pray to the comic gods that they don’t screw it up!
Well, it is a Marvel comic book movie, so I think that, with the rate Marvel has been going film-wise lately, you won’t have to worry too much. It definitely looks like it’s going to be worthwhile.
Trust the Marvel gods … =D
Can I just say how genuinely excited I am to see this movie? And it’s not just because Robert Downey Jr. has been a (not so) secret crush of mine for a loooong time. It really looks like it’s going to be great!
Haha, he is a nice piece of mancandy, isn’t he?
Can’t wait to see this sucker.
This looks so freaking good. I love when comic movies break down the story in a way that makes it actually seem real…EXCITED!
Me, too, virtualgirl. Realistic, yet still keeping the true essence of the comic you know and love.
Upsetting the fans is a very, very bad idea. Seriously, the first thing comic book fans say is, “Damnit, they better not screw this up.” Lol! It’s true, I said that when I heard about Wolverine.
I am so stoked for this movie. I even requested the day off from work just so that I can see it and not be in a rush afterwards (I work the late watch).
