News on when we can expect to see Spider-Man 4 released in theaters. Plus, will someone else take over Maguire’s role of Peter Parker in the film? If so, who should take up the part?

According to Marvel’s Vice Chairman, Peter Cuneo, we can expect to see the fourth Spidey movie hit theaters sometime in the next three years.

“As far as Spider-man 4, it’s really up to Sony, it’s up to them, most likely scenario is 2010 or 2011 but we can’t speak for them and I think, that we don’t know. They have given us their re-up payment for that film so you know they’re going to make it within a reasonable time frame. Sony may be looking at some issues with the cast and so on, I think they have to make some decisions.”

Screenwriter James Vanderbilt has reportedly turned in a script for the next movie which will tie into the fifth, as Spidey 4 and 5 could be filmed back-to-back.

Nothing is official yet, of course, but we could be looking at a new face for Peter Parker. /Film reports that Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Saved, Wristcutters) could be in the running for the role, and Michael Angarano (Forbidden Kingdom, Sky High) is also a contender.

Who do you think should take over as Peter Parker? Someone who was up for the part before? Or should they stick with Toby Maguire?

UPDATE: According to CHUD.com, however, Sony has denied the rumors that they are looking for someone to replace Maguire.
