I am a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, leaving behind college with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Journalism and Mass Communications. In my four and a half years in the program I somehow managed to make almost every project possible into something that related to one of my geeky hobbies. I created a Choco-Mog Sculpture, a Triptych wall-mounted Mario Brothers Tribute, a Nintendo Timeline Display, a board game titled “For Teh Win,” a Hero Gear Clothing Display, a Mii Family Portrait and even redesigned the 1988 Mario Brothers Board Game.

In my life as a gamer, college student, and all around bad influence, I can tell a good time from a boring one. I’m a mom and when that happened things changed for me. I don’t sleep in anymore. Date nights are spent watching DVD’s from Netflix. I’ve been subjected to the torture of pre-school television which includes blue dogs (who send you on a search for clues instead of just coming out and asking for a snack), purple dinosaurs, and men in brightly colored shirts who sing repeatedly about fruit salad. My purse is now the size of a briefcase and the contents are comparable to a Walgreens Pharmacy. Even though I miss being able to sleep in on the weekend and showering in peace I wouldn’t change a thing.

So I hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas. I can say that my niece (age 5) and nephew (age 3) definitely got what they wanted… although their dad got what he wanted 6 months early!

‘Twas the day after Christmas… And all through the house…
All the gamers were playing with controller and mouse.
The new games were stacked by the TV with care
In hopes that more gamers soon would be there
