In this edition of “Sew Happy Sunday” I delve into one of the most difficult aspects of cosplay, the hair…For many it can be the item that makes or breaks their costume. Thanks to the talent, research, and passion of cosplay wig expert, Katie Bair, many a costume have been saved.
As part of our new weekly features here at G.E.N I’m putting together a few of my favorite cosplay tutorials, stores, materials, etc. for you to enjoy and learn from! For you fantasy fanatics, I’ve got quite the article for you. Straight from the lovely Ms. Lillyxandra herself, a tutorial on her amazing wing creations!
1. You have to weigh to pros and cons of paying rent over buying more fabric.
2. You go to Victoria’s Secret and instead of looking at undergarments, you study the craftsmanship of the angel wings on the mannequins.
Cosplayers call them “crossplayers”, people who dress in costumes meant for the opposite sex. Borrowed from the term “crossdresser”, crossplayers are one of my favorite parts of this awesome community.
So, some of the GEN editors have never cosplayed. Some haven’t cosplayed in quite some time. We were all thinking of getting the group together to do one super-cowabunga cosplay.
Her online name is Omi Gibson. She is a mystery to those on US soil. All we know of her is this: She’s Japanese, she’s beautiful, and she’s got one hell of a cosplay closet. From Metal Gear Solid to Ghost in the Shell, this awesome chick has an arsenal of jaw-dropping costumes at her fingertips. You cannot miss this.
Like a few of the other girls on this site, I am a model and love to do shoots, especially when I can combine my passion for video games with my love for being in front of the camera. Recently I did a huge Guitar Hero shoot and just got some of my copies back and wanted to share with you all.
I am a proud mama of the SoCal Cosplay Gatherings, an organization that hosts cosplay events in central Orange County, CA. What began as a small group of only 40 has exploded to over 200 attendees in just under 3 years. And now we’ve officially hit the net! Read on for NUDITY! (more…)

To GLOMP or not to GLOMP?
In the cosplay and online realm of anime culture, “glomping” is more or less an unexpected, sometimes irritating,”Bear Hug”. It often comes unanticipated, from behind your back, and you can find yourself lifted from the ground with the intensity of the embrace. While some welcome this physical pouncing, others find it not only invasive but rude. (more…)
